We all want our kids to have an elegant , put- together birthday party but not everyone can afford an expensive party.
These are ideas that worked for me when my kids’ were younger. Budget friendly and simple. All parties need to be planned to be successful. Once you know the date , you can start to plan ( and budget) for the party! I’ll show you how you can plan a party that won't kill your budget, yet will look amazing !
STEP ONE (4 months in advance)
Decide on the DATE you’d like to host the party. Decide on this 3-4 months in advance . Decide on the THEME . Once this is decided , you can start planning .
If you can bake , great! You can then bake your own kiddies cake. If not, these three elements are key to book early as they cannot assist last minute.
Book early :
The venue ( if not at home )
The cake with your local baker
The cookies with your local baker( Mrs Brown’s Biscuits )
Personally I find it better to have a cake and if needed due to budget constraints, leave the cupcakes out , as often there is waste if both cake and cupcakes are available .
It’s cheaper to host at home , if you have space, than to hire a venue. It does mean you’ll need to clean up after, but you’ll save a ton of money .
Cookies ( from Mrs Brown’s Biscuits) will add to the theme . Pay any deposits 3 months out .
STEP TWO ( three months out)
The colour scheme will be dependent on the theme. For example - if you’re having a mermaid party , you’ll need pink and purple colours ; if spiderman then you’ll need red , blue and black colours etc.
If all your party goodies are in the same colour scheme , the end result will look put together and cohesive.
Keep a look out for these items and buy them in your colour scheme :
balloons
Party plates and cups
Serviettes

Party shops in your area, TEMU or SHEIN are great places to find cheaper party options in the colours you need , and if you order now you’ll get in time for the party !
STEP THREE ( 2 months out)
You won’t know the exact number of guests but will have a rough idea of how many people you will be hosting . One or both parents will be there for younger kids, so they need to be catered for too.
buy long life items : sweets ( in colour scheme) , chips, cool drink , party pack items if you’re giving party packs at the end of the party.
Keep things simple for the adults : tea/ coffee and a few plates of eats. If in the morning lean more to savory items, if in the afternoon then lean more to sweet.
Don’t over cater. Many young kids don’t eat a ton of sweets at the party and you’ll be left with a lot of left overs. They’ll go for chips, the birthday cake, cookies and maybe a sweet or two. Keep sweets age appropriate and avoid hard sweets little ones can choke on.

STEP 4 ( 1 month out )
Pay outstanding balances on cake/ venue, cookies etc.
Send out invitations
If you are self catering, buy frozen goodies like sausage rolls/ quiches etc and keep in freezer till the party,
Confirm booking with venue/ cake person and cookie person .
If you’re giving out party packs, pack these now and get them ready.
STEP FIVE ( the week of the party)
By now you know how many guests you are catering for, , so you can buy any last minute food items then plan your cake & cookie collection times with the necessary people.
Everything is planned abd ready for the birthday party. Enjoy.

Hope these ideas helped . Like this blog and leave a comment .
Love you,
Bye🌸
